In Chinese Medicine we have different kinds of headaches.
The basic energy of the body all flows up towards the head. A headache can be a predominant problem or an accompanying symptom to various acute and chronic diseases.
Each headache has to do with medians or pathways and organ systems; when we speak about organs we are referring to the energetics of that organ as determined by Traditional Chinese Medicine teachings. So headaches have their own characteristics. A cold first attacks the upper portion of the body; that kind of achy neck and headache at the base of the head and into the back. This originates from hyper function of the liver yang (we are under attack) and may increase with exposure to wind. We call this a windy headache.
Headaches can be due to a deficiency of Qi and blood. Many older people have these symptoms, which are lingering headache, dizziness, blurred vision, lassitude, and pain that is relieved by warmth and aggravated by cold.
A headache in the left side temple is usually liver energy and come with stress.
Headaches across forehead have to do with the large intestines.
These are broad generalities. You should see an acupuncturist or a Chinese Medicine practitioner to get the correct cause and treatment for your headache.
